We all have those days when we feel bored or uninspired. Sometimes you don’t feel like creating an entire post, and that is okay! It doesn’t mean you can’t use your downtime to boost your blog presence in small ways. The following is a list of things you can do in moderation whenever you have a spare 20 minutes or an hour. Grab a cup of your favourite beverage and try some of these stress-free blog boosters:
Create a list of blog topic ideas
A notebook is a blogger essential. Use this time to curl up on your sofa and jot down a list of ideas for upcoming blog posts. Feeling uninspired? Try flipping through a magazine or browsing the web and making note of what jumps out at you… it may just be your next topic!
Comment on other blogs
Networking with other bloggers is always one of the best ways to boost blog traffic. Take an hour and dedicate it entirely to reading through other blogs and leaving comments on the posts. Always be genuine, and don’t feel shy to leave a link to your blog following your signature.
Follow new people on Twitter
Growing your Twitter audience can be as easy as finding and following other like-minded people. Use a few of your minutes to follow some new people and send them a tweet if you feel inclined. It’s important to interact with other people online if you want to get noticed! If you have some extra time, you can also try adding a background image to your status updates.
Research brands you’d like to work with
How do you find brands you’d like to work with? You search for them! Hop on Google and search for some topics in your niche if you don’t already have some brands in mind. Create an Excel spreadsheet of the information you find, including the brand name, website address, and contact information.
Email those brands
If you’re feeling confident, email those brands you researched. Introduce yourself and let them know that you’re interested in working with them. Keeping it short and sweet is the way to go as long-winded emails often get overlooked. You might just spark up a new blogging relationship!
Expand your blogroll
While you’re at it, search for some new blogs to add to your favourites list. New blogs are popping up all the time and you might just find ones you adore. Bookmark them or add them to your blog reader.
Write to a fellow blogger
Building relationships online can be as easy as sending a nice email to a blogger you admire or one you have been following for a long time. Shoot them an email and let them know your thoughts.
Write a blogging goal for next week in one sentence
Goals are always great to have. Use some time to think about what you hope to accomplish next week. Maybe you want to write “x” amount of posts, or gain a set amount of new followers? Write it down and keep it by your keyboard to stay on track.
